John Van Ham is the Research Director for the CanCO2Re Initiative, which includes research coordination, synthesis, and engagement. He has held executive director roles at Alberta Innovates and Alberta Innotech, working in the areas of innovation funding and applied R&D. Prior to that he held director and manager roles in public policy, technology development, environment, regulatory and stakeholder engagement at ConocoPhillips Canada. John has also worked for not-for-profits such as the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Pembina Institute. John has extensive experience in cleantech and carbon management technologies across many sectors including electricity and renewables, oil and gas, refining and upgrading, hydrogen, agriculture, and mining. John is excited to be part of this large and interdisciplinary Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) study; to work with the extraordinary group of researchers examining all impacts and aspects that CDR will have in Canada.
